Volunteer Opportunities
Saint Afterschool is a non-profit, non-denominational program for East Allegheny school children in Kindergarten through Grade 3. We have operated for more than 15 years. As we expand the program starting fall 2025, we are seeking additional weekly and part time volunteers, homework helpers, kitchen help, and guest speakers. The St Afterschool program provides homework help, STEAM learning, special guests, crafts and games, and a warm family-style meal. This is a hands-on volunteer program. It is held on Wednesdays from 3-6pm at St John’s Lutheran Church located along Rt 30. Volunteers can support one activity (like playing board games or helping with homework) or be involved with the full program; it’s up to you! If this opportunity sounds fun and interesting to you, please contact Cindy Haag at 412-613-2010 or [email protected]. Parents and Children Beginning in mid-September and continuing Wednesdays from 3-6pm through the school year, St. John's hosts St. Afterschool, an afterschool program that provides care for kindergarteners through third graders. Each week, the students have a snack, get assistance with homework, do crafts, play games, and have dinner together. East Allegheny School district transports the children from elementary school at dismissal and parents and/or guardians are responsible for pick-up of their child no later than 6:00 pm. Children not in the EA school district are welcome if transportation can be arranged. |
