Choir

Picture
The Choir offers anthems during Sunday services from September through May. They help lead the congregation in singing hymns and the service liturgy. They are accompanied by Derek Schofield, our Director of Music.

We are always looking for more voices!  Our choir practices Thursday evenings from 7:30 to 9:00 pm.  For more information, contact Derek Schofield.

Handbell Choir

St. John's Handbell Choir offers anthems about five times a year such as Thanksgiving Season, Christmas, Lent, and Easter.  The handbell choir is led by Director Herb Willson and we practice on Mondays from 7:30 to 9:00 pm.  For more information or to join, please contact Herb Willson.

St. John's purchased the original 3 octave set of Schulmerich handbells in 1982.  More handbells were added in 1998 and 2013 for a total of 5 octaves.  Hand chimes were also added in 2008.  Herb Willson has been our handbell director for over 20 years.  He continues to challenge the ringers by selecting a variety of music that incorporates all 5 octaves of handbells plus the hand chimes.  Several pieces also incorporate other musical instruments such as cello, violin, flute, piano, drums, and more.  We welcome sharing the musical talents of our church members to accompany the handbells during an anthem.

Share Your Musical Talents

Do you play a musical instrument?  Do you play the trumpet, flute, violin, banjo or other instrument?  We'd love to hear you. Maybe you'd like to play (or sing) a solo, accompany one of the choirs on your instrument, or entertain us during one of St. John's special events.  We are always interested in sharing and enjoying the musical talents of our people.  Please contact Derek Schofield or Pastor Kimberly and let them know what instrument you play and your interest to share your musical talents.
