St. Afterschool is a hands-on volunteer program held on Wednesdays from 3-6 pm at St. John's Lutheran Church, located along Rt 30. The St. Afterschool program provides homework help, STEAM learning, special guests, crafts and games, and a warm family-style meal.
As we expand the program starting Fall 2025, we are seeking additional weekly and part time volunteers, homework helpers, kitchen help, and guest speakers. We are looking for both High School and Adult Volunteers!
Volunteers can support one activity (like playing board games or helping with homework) or be involved with the full program; it’s up to you!
Saint Afterschool is a non-profit, non-denominational program for East Allegheny school children in Kindergarten through Grade 3. We have operated for more than 15 years.

Two clearances are required in order to volunteer for St Afterschool.
Both clearances are free because you are a volunteer. The clearances are:
1) PA Child Abuse History Clearance

2) PA State Police Criminal History Clearance
https://www.pa.gov/agencies/dhs/resources/keep-kids-safe/child-abuse-clearances/criminal-background-check
Once you have copies of the two clearances, please bring a copy to St John's office or e-mail to [email protected].
