Pastor Kimberly's 2025 Vacation
Pastor Kimberly and family have returned from their summer vacation arranged to attend three reunion celebrations in England, Zimbabwe, and Indonesia.
First, they traveled to Poole, England in Dorset to visit the parishioners of her first call and to celebrate the 10th Anniversary of The Spire. https://www.thespirepoole.co.uk/
The five churches in the British Methodist Church combined and sold four buildings after Pr. Kimberly's time there. They renovated the largest and best-located church building and turned it into a modern and flexible space and renamed the congregation The Spire. It has a second -floor worship space that enables the nave to be used by community, club, government, health, and social groups throughout the week. On the first floor, there are meeting rooms, offices, and a wonderful café staffed by disabled folks and professional caterers who serve breakfast, lunch, and tea six days per week.
Pr. Kimberly led the Sunday service and her co-pastor during her first call, Pr. Fraser Smith, preached.

The Spire, Poole England
After visiting Poole, Pr. Kimberly and family traveled to Zimbabwe for the 25th anniversary of her Peace Corps service in Zimbabwe. Approximately twelve Returned Peace Corps Volunteers who served between 1998-2002 were able to attend. While in Zimbabwe, Pr. Kimberly and family visited Nyadire United Methodist Mission in northeastern Zimbabwe. Nyadire is a campus offering educational and medical services to thousands in the rural areas of northeastern Zimbabwe through a hospital, nursing school, teacher's colleges, primary and secondary school system with 1200 students, Home of Hope Orphanage, United Methodist Church, Hearing Impaired educational program, clinics, a farm, and many other services.
When Pr. Kimberly returned from the Peace Corps, she was instrumental in establishing The Nyadire Connection, a faith-based non-profit organization based in Pittsburgh that partners with Nyadire Mission to support and empower the ministries of Nyadire by building long-term relationships rooted in faith, dignity, and sustainability. The Nyadire Connection model is based on empowerment, not on dependency. Pr. Kimberly has led numerous mission trips of volunteers over to Nyadire. She preached in the church at Nyadire on Sunday July 20th in English and in Shona.
Finally, Ken left Zimbabwe early to travel to Indonesia for his 30th High School Reunion at Canisius College in Jakarta, a Jesuit school established in 1926. https://kanisius.sch.id/ He also visited his parents, brother, and extended family.
We're delighted to be back home with a renewed sense of the global nature of the church and reinvigorated passion for ministries in this community.
